Developing the next generation of Public Sector leaders

19 Mar 2013

At a time when local government is being pressed to reduce cost and improve efficiency, public sector leaders are being increasingly challenged both in responding to and driving significant change in the way their services operate.

In collaboration with four local authorities in the South East region (Surrey, Hampshire, East Sussex and West Sussex County Councils), Nicholson McBride has recently launched the Iconic Leadership Programme, aimed at developing the next generation of exemplary and transformational public service leaders.

Nicholson McBride has been working in partnership with the four authorities, as well as external experts and speakers, to develop the Iconic programme providing tailored solutions based on the clients needs drawing on our own forward-thinking research and a wealth of experience in both the public and private sectors.

Iconic is focused not only on enabling leaders to work successfully in strategic partnerships and increase synergies across organisations, but offers a joined-up process for developing talent across the region.

Our current work on strategic partnership and developing resilience has an affinity with the Iconic programme's key objectives, and these ideas served as a springboard for a creative solution.

The result is an intensive eight-month leadership development programme including: coaching, peer review and workshops with expert key-note speakers. Beyond classroom-based learning, delegates on the programme are also tasked with leading on cross-organisational projects and embarking on work-placements. Adopting an approach that is creative, yet firmly rooted in the practical challenges of operating in public service, the Iconic programme aims to develop a pool of exemplary, forward thinking leaders for the South East region.

We have extensive experience of consulting in the Public and Private Sector and if you'd like to know more about this cross-organisational talent management programme or similar Leadership programmes, please contact us .
